The Yankees hit 3 grand slam home runs in a game, the first time in ML history one team
has accomplished this. They collect 21 hits, including 5 home runs, pounding the Oakland
Athletics 22-9 at Yankee Stadium. With the Yankees down 7-2 in the bottom of the 5th,
Robinson Cano hits the 1st grand slam. With the score still 7-6 Oakland in the 6th,
Russell Martin hits the 2nd one to put the Yanks up 3. Then, in the bottom of the 8th, with
the Yankees up 17-8,
Curtis Granderson hits the 3rd grand slam. Martin has 5 hits,
including 2 homers (he hits a solo homer in the 4th) and a double, with 6 RBI's.
Andruw Jones also homers for the Yanks in the 8th inning with nobody aboard.
