After the top of 2nd was completed, Boston RF Earl Torgeson went into the Giants dugout and punched NY C Sal Yvears in the eye. Torgeson was evidently upset that Yvears had broken his bat after he hit a single in the first inning. Torgeson was ejected by HP Umpire Larry Goetz and Boston reserve Vern Bickford was also ejected for arguing with Goetz.
