I seem to remember a game where Pete Ramos hit a home run in a double header as the Senators beat the Yankees twice. As I recall Ramos challenged Mantle to a foot race before the game. It did not happen. Mantle was too valuable for such an exhibition.

I also remember, as if he is again young and Yanks' first sacker, Moose Skowron in the three-run sixth slamming a triple which rolled all the way to the left field bleachers. Third base coach Frank Crosetti sends Moose around third for an
inside-the-park home run! But the now chugging slugger is tagged out about two-thirds of the way down the third bade line. An inside -the-park HR by Moose would have been one of the most improbable feats in baseball history!
May God rest his immortal soul. Skowron was one of my favorite Yankees.

I was at this game! My Dad took me as this was my tenth birthday. As with other games of my childhood my memory is precise and vivid! I feel I am sitting with my father in the perfect box seats his client gave him - mezzanine a few rows
.
behind the broadcast booth. $3.50!. Still have all my scorecards and yearbooks.

As if he is before me this very minute, I am awe-struck as Mantle speeds up the line in
the 11th and beats Becquer to the bag. Never had I seen anybody run so fast and never have since! Then Lopez's HR
like a golf slice, a low line drive, curls around the base of the right field flag
pole!! Thanks so much for your site and I shall search for more games as I journey back as on a tome machine back into my childhood.
