First Pirate game i ever saw. Was 14 and visiting family that summer and a friend of family took me to this night game. It was hot, humid and i remember two things. Ted Kluszewski had the sleeves cut off and huge, massive arms. When he took a cut he almost twisted into the ground. The fans yelled KLU! KLU! KLU! It was a night game.
We sat right behind the catcher behind some wire screen. Warren Spahn was soaking wet from the waist up. Dr. Hill showed how to fill out the program record of the game. He told us all about Roberto Clemente and what a special talent he possessed. I can remember these things even today. Been a Pirate fan ever since. Had tickets and had planned to attend Faith Night but health prevented us from being able to purchase travel insurance so had to stay home. We are Canadians. Was also in Montreal the last week of the 79 season and saw the entire series and the Pirates clinched the division. There were about 79,000 at every game. I am certainly blessed to be a Pi
